First time in my life that I have been there and I totally regret for not visiting before. The best view in Porto and a trip to the arquitectural history of this city. Porto is become more modern and even more cool than ever. A vibrant city full of history is now the Portuguese city that received most visitors in 2014.

Viva o Porto, carago!

Caminha, Portugal

In my mind I am still traveling around Portugal, although based now in London.

The north of Portugal is full of green, light, tradition, religious items,  specific architectural details, heavy food and of course of gold, lots of gold!

Very much different from the south of Portugal when sun , nightlife and beach occupy the ingredients of those who prefer the Algarve.

In the region of Minho you can feel the sense of family all around you. You can enjoy the history of Portugal and its beautiful landscapes. Funny enough (or not!), the region that I found most similar to the north of Portugal was the north of Ireland.

North is definitely my favourite direction!

Little Red Riding Hood goes to the beach…

Although fast approaching 2015, one can still feel Christmas bells all over the place. On these holidays my Little Red Riding Hood went to the beach. And she had fun…

In a special corner of Portugal, from where we can see Spain. Here is Moledo, THE beach of our lifes.

Belém and a journey to the past

DSC_0087The Jerónimos Monastery and the Monument of Discoveries are Lisbon landmarks. I feel it is my obligation/duty to start introducing to my children the history of their own country and how Portuguese men were so successful during the course of history.  By visiting these places hopefully they become aware of the main personalities of Portuguese history such as the poet and writer Luis Vaz de Camões (author of Os Lusíadas) or the navigator Vasco da Gama.

Of course in the meantime..and when in Belém.. you can also  have the best Pastel de Nata in town! yum…

Sun and sea @ Cascais

DSC_0029 DSC_0016 DSC_0015 DSC_0013 DSC_0005Sun and sea. A full day with lots of energy and good vibes. Casa da Guia in Cascais is a place where you will be able to enjoy a wonderful sea view through the Atlantic, where the land seems to end and sea begins its journey up to the other continent. It is a place to meet friends, to write calmly all your notes in one of the two main restaurants, to shop in special and unique stores with plenty of vintages items and products or to have a good meal while enjoying the views.  Always a place to revisit when in Lisbon….

Let it snow….

DSC_0935 DSC_0974  blog1 blog

With Christmas Day fast approaching I wonder if I will be touching snow before 2015 starts.

I love snowing days, specially when they coincide with weekends. No stress with transports, no stress with schools or other activities. You can enjoy a truly special family day which can stay in our memories for a long time.

On those days usually I realize that my children’ feet are growing at a ginormous pace as they are no snow boot that can fit them when we need!

I also realize that we are not prepared for snowing days…no red snow sleights, no carrots to make a snowman’s nose. We are for sure not professionals! But we love it anyway…perhaps because my husband and I haven’t grown up seeing snowing days. Perhaps because we think snowing days make part of that imaginary of Christmas happiness so linked to the romantic hollywood movies.

Perhaps because white can mean purity, safety, peaceful feelings.

Anyway…I decided to go back to my photo “wardrobe” and share here some of those shots taken on a special snowing day. Cold, happy faces, plays, snowmen, music, freezing lakes…everything plays a special ingredient on these specific days.

I definitely miss WHITE!

Sunset, parks and Snow White

FullSizeRender-6FullSizeRender-7FullSizeRender-5 FullSizeRender-4FullSizeRender
FullSizeRender-2 FullSizeRender-1This is the season of cold and short days, teas and other hot drinks, scones, biscuits, panettones, family and friends’ gatherings, endless chocolates and a sense of guilt for eating and drinking so many unhealthy things. So on Sundays and before the night comes we go together for a walk in the park to regain energy, positivity and fresh thinking, ingredients that help us to begin happy a new week. And to achieve this we count with the help of our kids…this weekend our little snow white was the most active of all.
