A very popular but special view over Lisbon

I never noticed how lucky I was to be so close to these special place until now…:-).

Lisbon down town and river Tejo

A special and vibrant energy in Lisbon. There is no better words to describe than taking some shots! Isn’t it right? 🙂

When I started this blog back in June I wasn’t pretty sure of its outcome. I am still not sure now but at least I recovered the old habit of having the camera always with me. I try to look for different angles, different perspectives and instead of writing I tend to express somehow my emotions…taking photographs. So one of my resolution for 2015 was to keep on going with this blog, using photography to catch different looks, different approaches, different experiences. This is direction I want to take rose hortensia to.

Chestnuts street sellers

DSC_0455DSC_0461 DSC_0462 DSC_0471 DSC_0472 DSC_0473 DSC_0474

I love the smell, the taste, the format, the colours and the tradition. I truly hope that these chestnut carts and sellers never disappear from Lisbon streets!

São quentes e boas!

A place with not just a great view…

DSC_0344 DSC_0345 DSC_0346 DSC_0347 DSC_0356 DSC_0357 DSC_0358 DSC_0362 DSC_0342 DSC_0343Nothing tastes better than a Tonic Port in a place with a wonderful view to Porto. The Yeatman Hotel (not a consensual word in Portugal as lots of friends mention Yeatman in different ways…!) was the best discovery of my visit to Porto. I had visited Port wines cellars years before with some food and wine uk journalists but not exactly like this time. This is an excellent hotel with an excellent view, an excellent service and an excellent location that makes you look and admire Porto as never before.

Allow yourself time for this Yeatman experience!

Still in Porto with éclairs and books

DSC_0325DSC_0341     DSC_0332  DSC_0330   DSC_0326

There is always a special corner in Porto to visit. This time I decided to visit Livraria Lello (bookshop) and I was totally amazed by the strange format of its stairs – considered by The Lonely Planet one of the oldest bookshops of Portugal and top 3 most beautiful shops in the world. Public is allowed to take photos from 9 to 10 am. I missed that spot….

Next stop…Leitaria do Paço  – apparently where you can find the best eclairs in town. Loved it…and I am not even a fan of éclairs..

And then a walk through the old streets, observing the balconies and how they interact with the architecture of this beautiful city.

In the countryside between old Roman bridges

The north of Portugal is full of roman history and details that transport us easily to the past. Old bridges and old road marks along with more modern but still traditional details create a scenery of peace and natural beauty that no one is indifferent to.  Full of people during the summer months but deliciously empty in the winter. Only the sounds of nature there. sooooo peaceful……

Clérigos Tower @ Porto: 240 steps closer to heaven!

First time in my life that I have been there and I totally regret for not visiting before. The best view in Porto and a trip to the arquitectural history of this city. Porto is become more modern and even more cool than ever. A vibrant city full of history is now the Portuguese city that received most visitors in 2014.

Viva o Porto, carago!

Caminha, Portugal

In my mind I am still traveling around Portugal, although based now in London.

The north of Portugal is full of green, light, tradition, religious items,  specific architectural details, heavy food and of course of gold, lots of gold!

Very much different from the south of Portugal when sun , nightlife and beach occupy the ingredients of those who prefer the Algarve.

In the region of Minho you can feel the sense of family all around you. You can enjoy the history of Portugal and its beautiful landscapes. Funny enough (or not!), the region that I found most similar to the north of Portugal was the north of Ireland.

North is definitely my favourite direction!

Little Red Riding Hood goes to the beach…

DSC_0185 DSC_0189 DSC_0188 DSC_0198 DSC_0197 DSC_0194 DSC_0191

Although fast approaching 2015, one can still feel Christmas bells all over the place. On these holidays my Little Red Riding Hood went to the beach. And she had fun…

In a special corner of Portugal, from where we can see Spain. Here is Moledo, THE beach of our lifes.
